Dusty Springfield quote: "People resent change, I think in some ways, but they forget that they've changed too. I think most of us changed for the better rather than the worst."

Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien is better known as Dusty Springfield, one of Britain's finest elegant voices.  Born in West Hampstead London on the 16th of April 1939, she comes from a family of musicians and art lovers. A singer performer, and record producer, expressing herself through a variety of genres, from pop/rock to jazz, to disco, to R&B, to the blue-eyed soul.

A great part of her musical journey was informed by American music, notably the singer Peggy Lee, and the sound of the legendary label Motown. A sound that she championed back home. Not only that one of her songs was the perfect choice for Quentin Tarantino's movie, but Dusty Springfield was also influential to many artists, such as Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, Elvis Costello, The Tourist (Eurythmic), The Pet Shop Boys, Elton John, The Beatles, etc. We can say that she paved the way for what is now musically known as "The British Invasion".

She is known to own every song that she would sing and bring it a distinguishable touch. Dusty must not only be remembered for delivering classics that have enriched our musical culture, but for taking a difficult stance, as an artist, by being anti-segregationist and anti-apartheid.
